What this role involves

Position Overview

As our Virginia correspondent, you will be responsible for producing original news coverage that examines how government actions and policies impact communities. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on legislative sessions, committee hearings, and executive actions.

Location and Schedule

  • Must be based in Virginia or willing to travel to Richmond.

Rate / Salary

This is a broad, generalist role with significant individual contributor responsibility. This role will own local HR operations, employee relations, compliance, workforce enablement, and site culture initiatives, while partnering equally closely with global Centers of Excellence (including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Legal, Payroll, and People Systems) and local senior leadership onsite to ensure Group consistency.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

Local HR Leadership & Strategic Partnering

  • Serve as the senior People Operations partner for Tripadvisor’s Poland-based employees and leaders, with a particular focus on the KrakĂłw technology hub.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to local business leaders and global People Operations teams, balancing business priorities with enterprise-wide people strategy.

  • Serve as Tripadvisor’s primary subject matter expert on Polish employment law and HR compliance, in partnership with legal counsel.
  • Advise managers, People Operations, Legal, Finance, and G&A stakeholders on local employment matters before decisions are made, including terminations, notice periods, disciplinary processes, non-competes, working time, leaves of absence, and employment documentation.
  • Ensure local HR processes are compliant with the Polish Labour Code, ZUS requirements, and applicable employment regulations.
  • Partner with Legal and external advisors to monitor legislative changes and brief global People stakeholders on relevant updates before they take effect.
  • Proactively audit local policies, documentation, and practices to maintain readiness for Labour Inspectorate inspections and other compliance reviews.
  • Localize global HR policies and programs to ensure they are practical, compliant, and culturally appropriate for Poland.

People Operations Execution

  • Own day-to-day People Operations delivery for Poland, serving as the accessible local HR point of contact for employees and managers.
  • Resolve employee and manager questions directly and efficiently, reducing unnecessary escalation through global or vendor channels, while also encouraging and influencing the use of the employee portal for self-service answers.
  • Handle sensitive employee relations matters with discretion, sound judgment, cultural awareness, and in-person trust where needed.
  • Execute and continuously improve employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, contract administration, benefits enrollment, employee documentation, and employment certificates.
  • Manage offer logistics and pre-employment documentation for Poland-based candidates in partnership with Talent Acquisition.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and scale local HR workflows while maintaining a strong employee experience.

Payroll, Benefits & Vendor Coordination

  • Provide any needed data to centralized Payroll team.

  • Use Workday and other People systems to execute local HR workflows accurately and efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in investment banking, private equity, FP&A, revenue finance, or a similar highly analytical role; high-growth, public-company SaaS experience preferred but not required.
  • Deep revenue-modeling expertise: you’ve architected revenue forecast models from scratch and understand how bookings convert to recognized revenue, ideally across both subscription and usage-based models.
  • A strong bias for automation: hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Windsurf/Devin, Cursor, OpenCode) to automate workflows, accelerate modeling, and analyze large datasets—and a genuine drive to push how far that can go.

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in equity research, investment management, private equity, accounting, consulting, corporate development/M&A, investor relations, or a comparable client- or stakeholder-facing role, with a strong desire to move toward client-facing positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with financial data in some form — for example, building or interpreting a comparable company’s analysis, benchmarking a company against its peers, or understanding how you would approach that work. You do not need to have built three-statement models yourself, but you must be able to speak the language of finance and do benchmarking.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end revenue forecast—driving design, execution, and continuous improvement across monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles, including variance analysis, scenario planning, and executive reporting for all topline metrics.
  • Build and maintain the connection between bookings, ARR, and recognized revenue, applying sound methodology to drivers, assumptions, and retention/churn dynamics.
  • Architect robust, multi-scenario models that link operational drivers to the financial forecast—supporting long-range planning, investment prioritization, and executive “what-if” analysis.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in investment banking, private equity, FP&A, revenue finance, or a similar highly analytical role; high-growth, public-company SaaS experience preferred but not required.
  • Deep revenue-modeling expertise: you’ve architected revenue forecast models from scratch and understand how bookings convert to recognized revenue, ideally across both subscription and usage-based models.
  • A strong bias for automation: hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Windsurf/Devin, Cursor, OpenCode) to automate workflows, accelerate modeling, and analyze large datasets—and a genuine drive to push how far that can go.
  • Systems-thinker: you think in terms of data, logic layers, and repeatable process—not just spreadsheets. Experience with financial planning systems (Anaplan a plus) and comfort with data structures.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce) is a plus.

How you will make an impact?

As a Backend Engineer (Scala) in the Identity and Access Management (IDAM) squad within the Cyber Security platform at METRO Digital, you will be at the heart of the systems that govern who can access what across our global retail organisation. Your work directly secures and enables the digital identity of tens of thousands of customers and systems. You will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services written in Scala, operating on top of Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security at every layer.

Please note that this role is open also for candidates in Brasov and Cluj.

Job Description

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Scala-based backend services handling identity governance, provisioning workflows, and access management logic;
  • Collaborate closely with the IDAM squad to implement and evolve core platform capabilities: role assignments, entitlement management, and lifecycle automation;
  • Work on data persistence layers using PostgreSQL— ensuring correctness, performance, and resilience;
  • Deploy and operate services on Kubernetes; contribute to reliability, observability, and on-call readiness;
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions within the squad
  • Split large initiatives into small, manageable microservices and subprojects;
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment with short delivery cycles and close collaboration with product and security stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications:

  • Good knowledge in Java/Scala (5+ years of experience);
  • Enthusiasm for automating and automatically scaling tests and deployments with Docker and Kubernetes;
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and knowledge of IaC (Terraform);
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases — PostgreSQL;
  • Security mindset when designing and building applications;
  • Interest in splitting large projects into small, manageable microservices;
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal);
  • Curiosity and drive to constantly learn and adopt new technologies.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Datadog and the Play Framework;
  • Hands-on experience with secure authentication and authorisation mechanisms: JWT, OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and role-based access control (RBAC);
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar);
  • CI/CD pipeline experience and DevOps practices.
