We’re serious about professional growth, offering coaching, feedback, development planning, and opportunities to grow from within.

We know you might not check every box, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about this role, inspired to contribute to a meaningful product, and eager to share ideas that drive real change, we’d love to hear from you. Our environment values planning and quality, while also recognising that priorities can occasionally shift as products evolve. We’re looking for someone who can adapt thoughtfully, stay constructive, and keep quality moving forward.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve automated test suites for UI and API testing

  • Collaborate with developers and QA team members to ensure meaningful, risk-based test coverage

  • Solid understanding of API testing (REST, GraphQL)

  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of microservices architectures and how they impact testing strategies

  • Working knowledge of cloud-based and containerised environments (e.g. AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), sufficient to test, debug, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams

  • Strong understanding of Git-based workflows

  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for quality

    Where and when:

From wherever you want, the position is fully remote in the EU.

We’re very flexible about when you get your work done, but we do have some core hours where we like to overlap in order to promote collaboration and low-latency communication between team members (10:00 to 15:00 CET).

    • Our daily virtual stand-ups are important for us but other than that, you’re free to manage your own time.

Bonus Points

  • Experience using AI or LLM-based tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude) to enhance QA or automation workflows — such as test creation, analysis, refactoring, or productivity improvements

Engineer Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Chime

Builds and operates data infrastructure platforms, managing deployment systems like Airflow and Kubernetes, and core storage technologies like DynamoDB and RDS.

Mid Remote Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About the role

You’d be joining the Data Infra team — a small, high-leverage team within Chime’s Infrastructure Engineering org. We build and operate the foundational platform that Data Engineering relies on to run their workflows reliably at scale: from deploying Airflow and Flink environments to owning the DynamoDB and RDS infrastructure that powers Chime’s data platform. This is a generalist role where you’ll touch both pillars — the data engineering deployment layer and the storage layer — so you’ll never be bored. If you get energy from building durable foundations that other engineers build on top of, this team is for you.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000.00 and up to $184,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Build and maintain deployment infrastructure for Data Engineering workflows, including Airflow, Flink, and chalk.ai environments
  • Own and operate Chime’s core storage technologies — DynamoDB and RDS — serving both data engineering and platform teams
  • Write infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and manage workloads on Kubernetes in production
  • Partner closely with Data Engineering to translate their needs into scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions
  • Drive reliability improvements across the platform — observability, capacity planning, and operational hygiene
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of infrastructure changes: design, build, test, and ship
  • Help shape how the Data Infra team scales its practices as Chime grows

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 2–4 years of software engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure, platform, or backend systems
  • Hands-on production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with AWS, particularly managed database services like DynamoDB and RDS
  • Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language
  • A systems-thinking mindset — you design for reliability, scalability, and maintainability from the start
  • The ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and communicate clearly across teams
  • Experience with data ingestion and ETL pipelines is a strong plus

The role

The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions for the Lazo Platform. You will work across a modern TypeScript and Python stack, building product features that help startup founders manage incorporation, compliance, and accountability in a high-trust, regulated domain.

As part of the product team, you will translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions that drive product growth and improve user experience. You’ll collaborate closely with product management, design, and engineering to ship high-quality software in a fast-paced startup environment.

This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Tech stack

Lazo is built as an Nx polyglot monorepo (pnpm workspaces) deployed to Container Apps:

  • Frontend — Next.js 16 (App Router, React Server Components) + React 19 + TypeScript, organized with Feature-Sliced Design (FSD).

  • Backend — FastAPI (Python 3.11) with async SQLAlchemy 2.0 over PostgreSQL.

  • Data — PostgreSQL per service; Prisma and SQLAlchemy as the ORM seams.

  • Testing — BDD/Gherkin across layers: Vitest + vitest-cucumber (TS), pytest-bdd + httpx (FastAPI), Playwright (e2e).

  • Infra & delivery — GitHub Actions CI/CD, Docker, Container Apps, Key Vault, OIDC federated auth.

Lazo handles sensitive data — SSNs, EINs, passports, bank accounts, cap tables, tax filings. Security, data integrity, and auditability are the top priorities, ahead of availability, privacy/compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA), testability, and maintainability.

What you’ll do

  • Take specs and features all the way to production — backend, frontend, tests, deploy.

  • Write Gherkin tests before writing code. A claim that isn’t backed by a test doesn’t exist.

  • Use AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, MCP) as part of your daily workflow, not as an experiment.

  • Contribute to technical decisions with conviction: propose, question, improve.

  • Handle sensitive data (SSNs, EINs, bank accounts, cap tables) with the seriousness it demands — security, tenant isolation, auditability, mask-on-read.

  • Collaborate directly with the team to understand the problem before solving it.

What we’re looking for

Hard skills:

  • Solid fullstack experience — backend and frontend in production environments.

  • Strong command of React / Next.js (App Router, RSC) and TypeScript.

  • Familiarity with async, event-driven architectures and RESTful API design.

  • Comfort with PostgreSQL and ORMs (SQLAlchemy, Prisma, or similar).

  • Experience writing tests — unit, integration, and ideally BDD/Gherkin.

  • Python knowledge at an architectural level (not necessarily years of hands-on production experience).

  • Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.

Mindset:

  • Background in high-stakes environments — banking, fintech, or startups where systems have to work, no excuses.

  • Actively curious: you try new things before anyone asks you to.

  • Strong fundamentals mindset: you’re not interested in the quick hack that blows up in production.

  • Genuinely AI-first: Claude Code, MCP, AI-assisted workflows are tools you already use or pick up fast.

  • Able to work from specs as input and code as output — Specs Driven Development.

  • Advanced English.

Benefits

  • 100% remote

  • Flexible work culture — we measure by results

  • 3 weeks of vacation

  • Week off between Christmas and New Year’s Eve

  • Health benefits

  • Birthday day off
